Hosted by NCCT and organized by Western Academy of Beijing(WAB), Sino-Foreign Basic Education Conference 2005 was held in WAB from April 14 to 15. The conference aimed at promoting learning and exchanges between schools for children of foreign nationals and schools for Chinese children. The subject for this conference was “Teaching and Learning in 21st Century” and the focus was on learning: inquiry and learning, the library and learning, ICT and learning, and leadership and learning.
Keynote speeches were made by Dr. Ross Todd of New Jersey State University, Dr. Linda Selby and Ms. Elizabeth Probert of Auckland University, New Zealand, and Mr. Tang Shengchang, Headmaster of Shanghai High School. The participants included principals and teachers from schools for children of foreign nationals and schools for Chinese children, university teachers, and researchers from educational research institutes.
The conference was rich in content. In addition to the four keynote speeches, 16 lectures were given. Besides, the participants visited WAB and attended group discussions. From different angles, teachers of WAB delivered lectures and gave presentations on the subject of the conference. The participants sang high praise of the conference and they said that it was a success.
This conference is a daring try of NCCT with its school-oriented philosophy, aiming at better service for schools and promoting exchanges between schools for children of foreign nationals and schools for Chinese children.
